On Thursday, September 12, all students reported to the Auditorium for assemblies during their scheduled lunch period.
The purpose of the assembly was a chance to hear from the administration of the school, who shared with all students tips to be a successful student, as well as reviewing the behavioral expectations.

Part of what was announced was a plan to revisit and revise the school's current Cellphone Policy, and Principal Selenikas encouraged all students present to fill out and turn in comments cards regarding the potential plan create a cell-phone free learning environment at Long Island City High School.
